Directions for use
The pistils should be left to infuse in hot water (or broth) for at least 2 hours, then it can be added to the dishes being prepared.
Each jar bears a unique label and can be traced back to the specific production batch.
To guarantee the product, every single batch is analyzed by taking a sample.
All this serves to ensure that the organoleptic characteristics of the product comply with the Ministerial Specification of Saffron of L’Aquila D.O.P.
Saffron Cooperative of Navelli
On April 7, 1971, 46 small producers presented themselves in L’Aquila in front of a notary, it was the beginning of the Cooperativa Zafferano Altopiano di Navelli.
In 1989 a jury of experts called it the best saffron in the world, in Navelli and surroundings saffron has found its perfect combination of 2 elements:
- The land and the territory
This cooperative has had several awards since the golden atom in 1991.
The main victory was obtained in 2005 when the European Union recognized the title of Saffron of Eagle D.O.P, protected designation of origin.
To obtain recognition D.O.P. saffron must only be cultivated in only 13 district municipalities in Navelli and must be recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The real strength of this cooperative is traceability, allowing to trace the origin of a product in all the different stages of production and marketing.
Traceability is a fundamental element of guarantee for the consumer as it identifies all the subjects who have contributed to obtaining the finished product.

Cooperativa Zafferano Altopiano di Navelli
“The scent of Abruzzo”
This little jewel is presented in a cardboard package, shows the typical colors of saffron from the characteristic yellow of the pistils to the purple of its flower.
The Cooperative has done even more on the packaging by deciding to reproduce the shape of the Crocus Sativus flower.
Inside the box the precious pistils are stored in a glass jar containing 0.5 grams of product.
