De Carlo factory origin
Bitritto, Tenuta Torre di Mossa
The history of the De Carlo family began in the distant 1600s in the town of Bitritto in the Murgia Barese.
An area historically known for the cultivation of olive trees, mainly the Coratina, Peranzana and Ogliarola varieties.
Today the story continues, thanks to the passion and love for the territory of the new generations.
In the birth process of De Carlo extra virgin olive oil, the first ‘ingredient’ is tradition, maintained by the old mill dug in the stone and now renovated and modernised to obtain extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality.
Olives at the right degree of ripeness are harvested exclusively by hand and brought to the mill in a maximum of 12 hours.
Still crushed with the ancient granite millstones, from the resulting paste, the oil is extracted using a continuous cycle plant.
It is thanks to all this that De Carlo has obtained numerous and important awards in the most prestigious national and international competitions.
Named after its city of origin: Corato, this variety is the queen of oils in the area, and is a typical product of Apulia, mainly of the North Barese countryside.
The main characteristic of Coratina is a very high concentration of polyphenols, powerful natural antioxidants with certified positive effects on human health.
The favourable climatic conditions of the typical production area naturally aid the production cycle, without the use of chemicals.
